Energy Recovery System
In the metropolitan and urban public transport sector, during the electric or regenerative braking of vehicles the motors act as generators of energy, which is usually dissipated by on-board resistors; every day large amounts of energy are wasted in the form of heat.
Mont-Ele energy recovery systems are designed to eliminate this inefficiency at the root. Our solutions dynamically reverse the electrical flows thanks to the integration of advanced smart logic, recovering the energy so it can be fed directly into the public grid, reused directly in the supply stations for services such as escalators or lighting, or stored in BESS storage systems.
This process not only cuts consumption and operating costs, but transforms traditional transport lines into a modern distributed energy ecosystem that is efficient and natively sustainable.

The advantages of Mont-Ele solutions
Mont-Ele, a leader in the engineering study of substations, can support the client and the end user in identifying the best recovery system to maximise energy recovery.
The systems are designed to minimise maintenance, as they are based on standardised power modules capable of adapting to the client's needs without interfering with safety.
In addition to using wasted energy and reducing the cost of the electricity bill, the systems also offer indirect benefits such as regulating and stabilising the line voltage, improving the power factor (Cos φ), and acting as an energy backup during traffic peaks.
Finally, the adoption of our technologies eliminates the need for braking resistors on board vehicles, reducing the problem of heat management in metro tunnels.
