In the event of an emergency or for routine/extraordinary maintenance, the power supply must be interrupted and connected to earth.

Typically the connection is made using mechanical devices such as earthing switches (manual or motorised) or removable manual devices (safety cable), and both require local visual inspection.

This requires interruptions to railway traffic over large areas for long periods.

The MONT-ELE solution for providing remotely controlled, automatically operated yet safe earthing of the overhead line is delivered by the “safety earthing system” through the use of:

• Earthing Disconnector (DMBC)
• Continuity Control Device (ME-CCR)
• Safety Control Panel (UCS-DMBC)
• SCADA – Control System (OCC)
